French Country Transitional Tablescape

OK, folks - it is still summer
and it is even still too hot to be outdoors!
It's like a sauna steam bath out there!

So I am still holding off on the bringing up
the big tubs of All Things Autumn!

Today I am sharing a very French Country tablescape
that is a good transition between the two seasons.

It has a touch of fall and pretty colour.

You may remember my sharing these
wonderful hand made crepe paper flowers
my eldest daughter made me a couple birthdays ago.

I placed them in this heavy pottery milk jug
made in Staffordshire, England.

It sits on a handmade toile and Provencial doily.

I think they bring that "hint of fall"
 this tablescape called for.

A large Fiesta soft yellow charger
A Bizziri large green dinner plate
A fun scalloped edged polka dot salad plate
A little ivy floral bread plate

Top it all off with pretty
Soft yellow vintage Damask luncheon linens
wrapped in simple white ceramic napkin rings.

Cobalt blue Gibson flatware
adds some added dimension with colour.

They match nicely with the blue glasses.

I absolutely love these hand painted goblets!

It all coordinates in beautiful harmony.

And the very best part of this tablescape?

Every single thing on this table except the flowers
and the white tea cups is or soon shall be for sale at
The Finch Rest Emporium!

As always, thank you for your visit!

  1. Very pretty, Michele! Blue and yellow make such a gorgeous combination.

For us here in southwest Idaho, it seems that with the arrival of September, a switch has been turned on. Almost from the moment it became September, we've had a cool down. Nights are in the 40's and 50's. (Last night it got to 41!). Days are in the 70's. This, to me, is the perfect weather. Sorry it's still very hot for you.

    Have a great weekend.

    Love,
    Patti

  2. I adore blue, white and yellow -- add polka dots and my heart might flutter! :)
Hot and humid here, too. The weather people are talking about a "cool" front next week. Meanwhile, the birds are busy cooling off in the bird baths. I did hang my fall wreath on the front door. Thought that might help Autumn along!

  4. I love this, Michele...perfect for that lull between summer and fall! I love blue and yellow together and I really like the dainty flowers on the salad plates. I'd love to get some colored goblets...thinking of something earthy. Wonder why?! :)

  5. Pretty tablescape.

It's been warm-ish here as well.
We still have done most of our decorating for Fall..... all except the pumpkins.
I'm enjoying the changes and embracing the season fully :)

    Have a great weekend!

  6. Well, thank you, Michele! I was starting to feel like the odd one out not decorating for Fall yet! : ) You're right it has been way too humid this week to even think about Fall. Next week, maybe, I will go up to the attic and get the Fall stuff at least down. It is supposed to be cooler (or at least less humid). Your table looks beautiful! Have a great weekend!

  7. Hi Michele. I love your seasonal table scape with a French country look. It's really pretty. It hit 90 here today again but I got busy and put out some of my fall decor as I know this heat won't be around much longer for us. Have a wonderful weekend. Pam

  19. Hi Michele, what a beautiful way to welcome September! These colors are a perfect way to transition into fall. Like you it is till so hot and steamy, probably another month of this for us. I love being outside but it's hard to stay out long and I can't wait for the cool days! Your French country table setting is lovely. The doily set the FC mood and I love the stack, gorgeous! I would love to join you too for a visit! Happy September.........

  21. What a cheery tablescape, Michele, and the perfect centerpiece of pretty paper sunflowers, (your daughter takes after her very creative mother, I see!), to gently take you into the upcoming cooler season! Good luck with the sale!

  22. That is lovely, M! I love those colors together. I am not looking at or bringing out Fall either. It is Summer, and I will enjoy it till its last breath! Winter will be here soon enough! Another beach day here!

  23. Love to see the colors of Provence on your pretty table. So cheery and fresh. The plates are very delicate and perfect for your theme. I do have to agree that it is still very hot. It is great to get those last hot summer days as a bonus but I have already started with my fall decor just because it is one of my favorite seasons.

    Lovely photos.

  25. Once again, I mourn the fact I don't (yet!) have my own lifestyle magazine or else I'd beg to feature your photos! You are the stylin' queen ... (sung to tune of "Dancin' Queen," a classic for gals my age!).
