A Winter's Tea

I apologize, in advance, for posting with such grainy dark pictures. I am a new blogger (this is my very first week) and simply wanted to share a favorite old tablescape.  It is the season of snow and this was a special snowy tablescape event for me.

Since this tea party I have acquired a much-needed/much-improved camera. So if you all will kindly indulge me this time to share a sweet old memory with you, I should be quite appreciative, thank you.

Last winter I invited my three darling young nieces to join me for a simple winter's tea party. I used snowflakes as our theme. I  used a simple mirror square with tulle and snowflake plastic beading wrapped around a frosted glass vase & simply tucked in silvery sparkly floral sprays. I brought out the little snowflake book for added interest keeping with the theme.

For their favors I gave them each a matching-but-different snowflake ornament. One said HOPE, one said PEACE and one said BELIEVE. The girls really thought they were pretty grown up getting their very own ornaments!  I have to ask if they remembered to use them on their Christmas tree!

The snowflake napkins were a gift from a friend a few years ago, who made them with her amazing gajillion dollar embroidery machine. The silverplated napkin rings I've had for years. All my vintage sterling or silverplated service items I have been collecting for years. I used simple white acrylic chargers under Mom's china. Says Royal M by Saji Japan - Liege.

This tea set is one of my favorites. I have had it for about 20 years, found it in a neat vintage/antique store here in my hometown and snatched it right up! I had never, no have I since seen one like it. It is silverplate over ironstone - giving one the LOOK of a silver tea service, but no worries of the sides getting too hot, tea turning cold too quickly, or one's tea ever tasting like metal when used. Brilliant.

  4. Michele, what a beautiful tea table! And, what a wonderful tradition to start with your nieces. My Mom, my sister, my daughter, and myself go to "tea" every year during Christmas week when we are all together. It's a lovely way to spend a few hours.
