Pink Tulips!

The other day I posted how excited I am/was

about our daffodils blooming.

Well, yesterday between rain storms

 I found that our pink tulips snuck their way 

into the daffodil masses........

It is quite the thrill to see them again.

I ♥ that the drops of rain are still showing on them.

These haven't even opened up yet!

Nor have the deer munched on them yet either! 

YAY!

All the flowers are droopy in these pics 

due to that torrential downpour

the had just experienced.

The deer aren't the only ones who love these tulips......

We love them too because the bulbs were wedding favors

 from our Autumn wedding almost 10 years ago.

They were wrapped in really neat cubed boxes

 with bows and a hand tag that said

"Love Keeps Blooming" 

along with the directions on how to plant the bulbs

and our wedding date.

So these planted in our first home together are the leftovers -

 and yes....

Love is still blooming here at the Finch Rest!

Amazing Storm Clouds!

We had an incredible spring storm yesterday

 which has left us much cooler, grey and soggy.

We had lots of warning it was coming

 with very loud and rumbling thunder!

But storms are totally expected this time of year -

 just not any more SNOW STORMS please!

The winds blew so hard and the clouds came rolling in!

I was lucky enough to have just enough time

 to catch a few formations

 to share with you all before the rain came.

It was in the middle of the day, yet look how dark it became!

It was so still prior that I honestly thought it could have been 

a tornado with all that wind blowing!

(This big dark cloud almost looks funnel-like, doesn't it?)

Well the big storm passed quickly enough,

 and all this pretty new life needed the rain.

Daffodils Have Bloomed!

OK. It's official now. It's truly SPRING TIME!

The Daffodils have finally bloomed in the front garden.

I am so excited I can barely stand it.

(They weren't out yesterday!)

I have the windows open- kitty Romeo is in glory on the sill.

It sure is nice outside today!

I even weeded!

(Ok, for about two seconds. I can't lie to you!)

That's as far as I got

 because as soon as I was walking back and saw these daffodils

 I knew I had to grab my camera.

I knew I wanted to share this discovery with you!



Last night we had our last regular
 civic women's club meeting of the year.
I am an officer in this club and also a group leader
 for one of the many interest groups we have.

All the interest group leaders were given
 the cutest little gift
from the Interest Group Chair Person -
 look what she planted for us!

She even gave us a kiss on the cheek -
 you know - "Plant One On Me!?"

Too fun!!

That's it. I am just happy

 and wanted to spread the sunshine

 these flowers bring to my soul.

Only the Nose Knows...

When I was in college one of my closest friends

 was really fun and we laughed often together.

I have fond memories of one night staying up all night

writing down silly quips about noses.

 Noses are just kinda funny looking anyway,

 they jut out and look silly on most of us on most days,

 but we laughed for hours coming up with nose puns and funnies. 

We had all sorts of them such as

 "A nose by any other name would smell as sweet."

 (I know, Shakespeare had to have rolled over his grave with that one!

By the time we could think of no more

 we had pages and pages of nose puns, etc.

You know I only threw that list out a few years ago.

I kinda now wish I would have kept it. Oh well.

So for a little blue, a little giggle and a little collage,

I send you this silly joke that mentions a nose-

and a wish for you to have a fabulous week!

A man died and went to The Judgment. St. Peter met him at the Gates of Heaven and said, "Before you meet with God, I thought I should tell you -- we've looked at your life, and your really didn't do anything particularly good or bad. We're not at all sure what to do with you. Can you tell us anything you did that can help us make a decision?"

The newly arrived soul thought for a moment and replied, "Yeah, once I was driving along and came upon a woman who was being harassed by a group of bikers. So I pulled over, got out my tire iron, and went up to the leader of the bikers. He was a big, muscular, hairy guy with tattoos all over his body and a ring pierced through his nose. Well, I tore the nose ring out of his nose, and told him he and his gang had better stop bothering the woman or they would have to deal with me!"

"I'm impressed," St. Peter responded, "When did this happen?"

"About two minutes ago," came the reply. 

"

Sunny simple Sunday

Our Easter Table

The Easter season passed by so quickly
this is the first time I have been able to share
 my Easter tablescape with Blogland.

I went with an earthy, muted and natural table this time.

The skinny little bunny salt and pepper shakers were thrilled
to be asked back again this year!

We had to host in our eat-in kitchen because

we're having work done  in the formal dining room.
The grand piano is sitting where the dining table should be
so there was no getting around that arrangement this year!

Sorry about the lighting - no real time to fuss as there was much 
to do after church to get things ready for our dinner!

As things were baking, cooking and brewing I tried to capture some
pics before the guests were to arrive!

I am just glad I remembered to take them!

We had six this year: the two of us;
Eldest daughter and her husband plus
Youngest daughter and her new boyfriend.

(This is the first time he'd dined with us here.)

I ♥ my Williams-Sonoma bunny napkin rings.

They're discontinued-
 but would sure love to locate a few more!

Our menu:

Ham with sweet pineapple glaze and baked pineapples
Herbed turkey breast
Yams - carrots - green beans
Scalloped au Gratin Potatoes
Cranberry sauce (we eat it year 'round)
Deviled eggs (Youngest daughter made them this year)
Salad
Hot dinner rolls
Strawberry cheesecake
Coffee and tea

The table in the kitchen is  much smaller than the
large dining table we have so the centerpiece
had to be small and low.

This nest favorite did the trick perfectly.

Mismatched collections of old silverplate flatwear 
is one of my favorite looks on a holiday table.

Works as well with a casual table as it does with a formal setting.

After dinner we played Apples to Apples-
one of the most fun family games we play.

We did have a wonderful visit, and it was over
much too soon for my liking!

Calm Tea Time after Easter

The rush of Easter is now over 

 and it is now time for a nice relaxing tea moment.

The guests have all  is gone and things are finally

getting quiet & back to normal around here.

I hope you all had a wonderful time

 with family and friends

this Holy Easter weekend!

I use a simple-but-sweet

 little whimsical tea set for one.

The butterflies and flowers on it tell me

that soon spring with burst forth

New Life for us all to enjoy once again.

I set up on a little tea table by a favorite chair.....

and very near the back window door

 where Romeo the kitty may be found most typically.

 (He really enjoys to watch the birdies from this spot!)

Taking a much-needed respite from work and duties

 and enjoying a hot cuppa tea

with soft music playing in the background

 is just what I needed for tea time today!
