Starfish Giveaway; Christmas in July

Giving away this cute little double starfish ornament
in honor of Christmas in July!

It kinda came and went with very little fanfare this year, didn't it?

Some of you know that where I grew up
Christmas in July is a very big deal for all the folks
who live in "vacationland" in the summer,
yet never see their summertime neighbors at
the true December Christmastime.

So many tourists really go ALL OUT -
 decorating cottages and yachts...

And many businesses have themed specials at the pubs and stores!

So when July 25th comes around my spirit is with them.
In my heart and mind I am home on the lake for Christmas.

Last year I celebrated here hosting a Christmas tea for my niece.

Here's a sneak pic of it:

But this year has been quiet and peaceful.
My two youngest nieces are at their two-a-day cheer practices,
my eldest niece is babysitting
because she turned 16 last month and needs gas money.

This year my daughters had a big bbq party with their friends
hosting a "Couples Night Out Pub Crawl"
for my daughter Katie's and her fiance Jeff's
 bachelor/bachelorette party.

They wanted theirs to be together, not traditional.
That's not their style at all so this was perfect for them!

♥♥

(They're getting married August 29th!)

This delicate and precious vintage hand painted Japanese teacup
is a recent and lucky  thrifting find.

It is paper thin, and is a subtle nod to a Christmas in July tea!

It somehow just belongs nestled amongst the flowers outdoors!

  1. Oh, I'd love to win it! It's adorable, and would fit in nicely with our living room 'beachy' decor where the tree resides each December. Thanks for the opportunity! :)

  6. Hello Michele!
I owe you an apology. You sent me a very sweet email a while ago and I don't think I ever got back to you. Please forgive me! I'm back to blogging - finally. It's been quite a year so far. Your blog is as lovely as ever! It's always so calming to visit. I hope all is well with you and your family. Hugs, Cindy

  8. Such tempting goodies, yet having hit the jackpot so recently here, it would not be fair. Have finally achieved page 100 in Blackberry Wine...I am liking it more and more as I go on. I had not fully realized that another daughter is getting married this summer. Are you still wearing the boot? So much to do and, if wearing a boot, a double challenge. Have fun with your giveaway! Would you like it announced or do you prefer to have it for those who regularly visit here?

  11. Hello again Michele! I hope you're seeing all of my comments on your blog. For some reason, for every comment I left yesterday, I got the following email message "Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently" etc. etc. It seems strange since I didn't send you an email, just posted on your blog! Anyway, I hope you're having a good day, my friend! Thanks so much for your message on my blog! Big hugs, Cindy:

  12. Christmas in July isn't that big here on the Island. I do acknowledge it most years but it skipped right by me this year. Hubby being on vacation would be the reason. Your starfish is adorable and I love the teacups. Hubby and I don't like separate parties either. We have always done everything together. Thanks for joining me for tea and have a super week, Michele.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  13. Oh how wonderful that you will be having a wedding soon! I know that as the kids get older it's harder to spend time with them. I have found this with my older grands. Little 9 year old Paityn wanted to spend the night last night so we have been having a bit of fun today. Playing games, making jewelry, baking, having tea, and eating. lol! I love the thrift find teacup and saucer. I have a few winter pine cone dishes that are fun pulling out after Christmas. Your starfish ornament is sweet. Thanks for offering it to one of us lucky readers.
    hugs,
    Jann

  24. Michele, I think the Christmas in July at the ocean sounds like the neatest tradition. I guess that one has passed me by - this is my first time hearing about it. You are so sweet to offer the starfish ornament.

It sounds like you have the neatest relationship with your nieces. :)
