The Aviary Guest Bedroom Tour

I have made a few changes in one of the guest rooms
and thought this a good time to share.

The iron headboards are fairly new.

I bought this hand painted Nest wood wall art
and the 2 bird bed pillows
 from Etsy quite a while ago.

The wall lamps and quilted shams are old PB.

The wooden cross is from Israel -
 a lovely house warming gift from my in-laws.

~~~~~*~~~~~
The large metal antique French cherub lamp
 is a recent auction win.
The duvet covers and bed skirts are RL
 from his nautical collection some years back.
The wall colour is SW's "Khaki."
The wicker chair & pad is P1I.
This is just a simple bird-themed room,
 minimalistic in design and cozy to the soul.
(And waiting for you to come visit and fill our home with your friendship!)
All the wall art and pillows have birds on them -
 thus the reason we named this room "The Aviary."
 Yes, I name rooms and homes -
 I think I should like need to own a B and B!
It houses my mother's antique commode
 and my Aunt's chippy antique child's rocking chair-
 with her delightful needlepoint bottom.
She gave this to me the same year
as my daughter was born-
the daughter for whom she was named.
Eventually, of course, it is intended for her
but for now resides happily here with us.
I recently upgraded the blinds in here -
 these are 2" Hunter Douglas room darkening
 wooden shade blinds that lift and pull
 versus using a pulley system.
 I also dropped the crazy money upgraded
 to also have the wooden valance.
 I used to have plain linen drapes/curtains
hanging  from a white wooden rod in here
 but I am liking this simplicity for now.
 It's not fussy.
That can be a good thing sometimes.
(Apologies for sharing this awful hazy. grainy photo- I just couldn't get a good pic!)
My "Faith" metal sign is a gift from my tea sister-friend MD
and my lovely collection of Jane Austin novels
 is a cherished Christmas gift from my wonderful husband.
As always, thank you so much for your visit!
~Michele
  7. Michele your guest bedroom is very cozy and comfortable looking. I love the old rocker and the bird theme as well. I'm liking your HD blinds. I didn't know slat blinds could be room darkening. I'd love to have them for our bedroom and will look in these. Now. When did you say this room is available? :) Hugs. Pam
  10. (Have heard you drop the line about a B&B more than once. Are you kidding? Somehow I don't think so. My sister and I planned to open one, but could never get over the jitters. We had dear friends in the business so felt we had an inside look...still.)
    Love this room! Book me for the first weekend in whenever. =D
  12. I enjoyed your tour Michele and your simple makeover. Sometimes that is the best and most relaxing of all and I always have to fight my inclination to overcrowd a room.
    I haven't been out visiting blogs this summer at all, so I'm glad I chose your welcoming guest room to be my first stop. I feel very welcomed with all your lovely treasures.
    I've been so busy, I don't know where the summer went, but with a sore back, I decided to really slow down and give myself an evening in blogland. I hope you've have had a nice summer and are well.
  27. I can easily imagine snoozing in this lovely room! It's simple but with all the right touches. We have turned down a few B&B's that were over decorated. You're all set! The guest houses we have stayed in abroad are often just a room in someone's home. I love all the birds of course, and that wonderful heirloom chair! (Thanks so much for your very nice praise over on my post. ;0))
