Violets Tea

Just what is it about violets on tea china?

A pretty old delicate teacup.....

And teapot..........

Even a pretty music box....

Adds joy to this delightful tea!

Such a pretty lid!

The Violet - by J. Taylor

Down in a green and shady bed,
A modest violet grew;
Its stalk was bent, it hung its head
As if to hide from view.
And yet it was a lovely flower,
Its colour bright and fair;
It might have graced a rosy bower,
Instead of hiding there.

Yet thus it was content to bloom,
In modest tints arrayed;
And there diffused a sweet perfume,
Within the silent shade.

Then let me to the valley go
This pretty flower to see;
That I may also learn to grow
In sweet humility.

Rose Chintz Cottage is having a party!

  2. I love your cute tea cups. Is there anything cuter than tiny violets. Sweet box and teapot. I like that you set with a purple tablecloth and matching purple-blue fresh flowers with a hint of pink. I wish you a wonderful week!. Zinnia

  4. How sweet are those pieces! My sister gave me a packet of viola seeds that I have to find a spot to put them in.

  5. Violets do have a little something different, don't they? Maybe it's that we're so used to seeing pretty pink flowers on teacups, that the purple violet is a welcome change. Beautiful pieces, Michele.

  13. Do you happen to have any violets? I've never grown any. I tried once, but they died. I think someone told me that it takes a special gift to grow them. I think that might be true because the people I know who are successful with them never have any tips to share about what they do. By the way, that teacup is so pretty and dainty.

  14. Hello Michele
    A sweet little poem and lovely china for tea today. Violets self seed all over in my garden but I still let a few grow. The white ones are my pride and joy as they're not often seen.
    I had tea in my new pink mug last night for dinner and had happy thoughts of you.

  16. Violets are one of my favorite flowers and your china is very pretty. My grandmother's favorite color was lavender and I think they kind of remind me of her.

  26. Michele, thank you for showing your beautiful violets at Your Cozy Home Party. Violets look so delicate and femmine. I think most of us love them. They certainly look pretty on the pieces you showed. The teapot looks like it might be the same design as one I used to have. I loved it but sold it when I had a shop several years ago. Your photos are always beautiful. I would like to learn more about my camera so that I can take great photos like yours. Hope to see you next week and June 17 for the Grill, BBQ and Picnic Party.-------------- Shannon
