White Wednesday & Favor

Oh my word, it is AUGUST already!

How can that even BE?

Just exactly where is summer going?!?

I have at least ONE more weekend planned
before summer is over for going back to the island
where I grew up on a big lake for a visit.

(It's not an ocean, by golly, but it is "home.")
And I SURE do miss it when away too long.....

Song of a Shell
V. Cuslidge

I held a sea shell to my ear,
And listened to its tale
Of vessels bounding o'er the main
And all the ships that sail.
It sang of brilliant water flowers—
The bright anemones
That bloom beneath the ocean waves—
Tossed in from seven seas.

Each time I harken to this song,
I hear the breakers moan,
And fancy that a warning bell
Rings from a lighthouse lone.
No longer need I wish to go
Where foam-capped billows swell,
For I've an ocean of my own
Within this pearly shell.

Prayer Request:

I have to have surgery early on Thursday morning and will need to take some time away from blogging for a bit - at least that's the expectation.

Sure would appreciate any good thoughts and prayers you could send my way.

Thank you so very much- see you all soon!

Hugs!

~Michele

  6. Sending you lots of good thoughts and prayers as often as you come to mind. Take good care of yourself...

I've never heard that poem. I like it a lot. Sometimes, I've displayed seashells and that would be a good one to use in the bowl.

    Wishing you a quick healing...

  11. What beautiful shell images and words! I happen to be working on a mystery novel (set at the beach) in which shells figure prominently, so this very much speaks to me! And I am stopping right now to pray for your surgery on Thursday. (OK, just did.) May your recovery be short and sweet, and I'll "see" you again soon!

  15. Of course, I'll pray for you and for your surgeons and caregivers too! Thanks for stopping by and being sweet enough to comment. I love this poem about the sea and the shell! I'm a landlocked girl who loves the ocean and everything about it (except the storms that hurt others). Good luck next week. Let us know how it goes.
