Relaxing Garden Teatime

The rain has stopped long enough

to take tea ~

and a respite from my busy day & be outdoors a bit.

Unfortunately, nearer to the flowers
 was much too waterlogged
so I shall sit quietly and listen to the birds
here in my little covered Zen Room.

It is one of my favorite places on earth.

And right now one of the only DRY areas outside!

I grabbed a simple porcelain birdie mug with a sweet handle
and opened a pack of my favvie purchased "go-to" tea snacks:
Scottish Shortbread. It's the perfect tea accompaniment!

I always seem to have bird things around -
I have had this cute fern birdhouse basket
a while - love when it comes out for the summer.

If you look closely you can see the lil yellow finch!

There's nothing like a good book or eye candy magazines
and sipping a favorite beverage and relaxing.

Today I am reading a wonderful magazine called
Romantic Country - a generous giveaway win from

You can read all about it here!

You will be very happy for her!

(Thank you, sweet Pam!)

NEW! NEWS!

Our sweet blogger Carolyn Aiken is featured in
this magazine!

She just posted about it here

Well, as it turned out I had only just finished my tea time
when the sky opened up and started pouring rain again!

Thunder. Lightening. Wet and soggy. Sigh.

Wish we could send the drought-stricken places all this extra rain!

Glad I had the chance to be outdoors even if for just a little while.

If you missed my earlier blog info post today
be sure to read my last post
if you love Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy as much as I!

As always, thank you for your visit!

  2. Hello Michelle,
I am so glad to see you were able to take time in your busy day to treat yourself to tea out doors. It is simply lovely with your birdie cup. That magazine looks fab too. It does seem to be becoming more challenging to find a dry spot here as well!
My day also was so busy, but I just had to have that tea on the porch! lol! The birds are all around me in the trees, singing away, as my porch is a second story balcony. I feel very lucky to be "up in the trees" like that. Today, a hummingbird tarried long enough over my violas and thyme, that I got a really good look at him/her. Such beauty! Hummingbird visits are few and far between here, and usually they rush on by so fast it is a blur.
I hope you are having a good week : )
    Hugs,
    Terri

  8. I like birds on anything and scotch shortbread, so can I join you for tea Michele? You have a cozy little nook in your Zen room, it sounds like the perfect place to meditate and sip tea.

  11. Thank you so much for telling me about Pam. Your lovely spot looks so comfortable and a great place to have tea and read and watch your birdies.
I wish we would get some rain, but that's not going to happen until November.
Have a great rest of the week.

  13. Goodness! You must be all waterlogged! We have actually had 10days without rain. Amazing! Love your bird mug and LOVE Scottish shortbread, although I can't have it much...too much dairy...makes me wheeze. But, sometimes, ya just gotta! Lovely, serene tea setting, and lovely photos. Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

  19. What a sweet moment to enjoy the outdoors. I love your bird mug. We have had a lot of rain here too, so my tea time has been on the screened back porch :-)

  20. You have such a knack at putting tea things together among others. Your table looks so welcoming and fresh. Love all on that table, especially the basket with greens and little bird house. I never seem to do things like that, too busy trying to do some crafting and keeping this joint clean, seems like it's a constant job, so dusty always. Love your blog. Happy summer

  23. So glad you could enjoy a tea outdoors, Michele. I love your birdie cup and the bird house with the finch. As you know, the gold finches are my favourite little feathered friends. I would love to have a covered area to sit in outside but then there are a lot of things I wish I had. ;) Thank you for joining me for tea and have a lovely day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  27. Well, Michele, it looks like great minds think alike! We both had tea outdoors while reading! - haha! I love your bird themed things. What a charming beaker and sweet little house. I can't believe that we both had bird houses on our tables. Shortbread is always a great idea with tea. My daughter and I made green tea shortbread last year and it was good. :)
Hope you get a chance to dry out!
