Birthday at Cambridge Tea House

And I am blessed with two wonderful daughters!

They know just what their Mom would love for her birthday!

Tuesday was my eldest's day off so she arranged for the two of them, along with her MIL and me to have tea as an early birthday gift for me
 at the Cambridge Tea House in Grandview, Ohio.

(Why on such a gorgeous fall day I didn't get an outdoor shot is beyond me!)

This is such a WONDERFUL place to have lunch!

They serve traditional tea if one chooses
(3 tiered servers, perfectly brewed loose-leaf tea, tea cosies, etc.)

...but they also serve amazing regular lunches.
They have a patio to dine outside on nicer days, too.

Cambridge Tea House has a modern streamlined decor.

Choosing this tea house was a great choice for my youngest daughter
to finally "take afternoon tea" with us, as she has never really done it.

Everyone was extremely satisfied!

As you can see, the pots were sturdy and not fussy or girlie.

Our first pot (hiding in the background)
was a large bright red one holding yummy Vanilla Tea.

The second one was a small one, this one was Paris.
(Big shout out to MD from Indianapolis who gave me my first taste of it!)

Paris tastes like vanilla too but we just had to have it, is a big fav!

The red transferware mugs are English, sturdy and strong!

The food was so yummy - really fresh and delish!

Savories were all served on a tiered tray in scalloped paper cups.

Next we were served wonderful huge sweet scones!

Of course they were served with jam and cream!

The pretty red plates were a nice difference.

Usually tea time china is so delicate and pastel.

The sweets were an apple crumble and Hazelnut Chocolate Cake.
I gave them away, was too full after that huge scone!

~~~~~~~~~~
There is a subltle and rather regal CROWN THEME
at the Cambridge Tea House!
The table's paper covering is stamped all over in red.
One can find it on the sugar bowl and on the menu, too!
My eldest daughter bought us this wonderful lunch
and also gave me this sweet mint tea and etched teaspoon gift
that she found on Etsy.
  3. What a wonderful outing for your birthday Michele! I really hope I can one day go out for tea with both of our daughters like you have.
    As much as I like teacups, I too liked how this place used sturdy mugs and the food looks awesome.
    Thanks for sharing your BD tea.
  5. Oh I liked this post a lot. I've only been to a tea room once and it is high time to return (if only I could as it has since gone out of business).
    What a sweet gift the etched teaspoon is. You're going to really enjoy that.
  6. Hi Michele, Happy Birthday! First I want to say that you look way too young to have grown up daughters! Second, that they are thoughtful...you raised them right. I enjoyed seeing the goodies and the butterscotch scones look decadent. I have tried Paris Tea - I enjoy Harney and Sons Teas very much. Have a wonderful week and thanks for the trip to the tea room!
  9. Michele, your tea outing would have suited me to a "tea"! The food looks wonderful and the presentation was lovely too. Sometimes it's nice to enjoy a tea that is not quite so stuffy and girly. But the red transferware cup has me swooning; oh my, I do love it! So happy you shared your birthday tea outing with us at Tea Time and have a beautiful week, my friend.
    Blessings,
    Sandi
  27. Oh how fun! Our local tea house here in Dayton just closed, so there is no place to enjoy such yummies anymore. My problem is that I always want more savories than the sweets and I have to trade goodies with my tea partner. Even then, I crave more. LOL
