Happy Halloween & Beggar's Night

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EVERYONE!

Trick or Treat!

It's Beggar's Night!

It's Halloween
by Harry Behn

Tonight is the night
when dead leaves fly
like witches on switches
across the sky.
When elf and sprite flit
through the night on a moony sheen...

It's Halloween!

Tonight is the night
when leaves make a sound
like a gnome in his home under the ground
when spooks and trolls
creep out of their holes,
all mossy and green...
It's Halloween!

Tonight is the night
when pumpkins stare
through sheaves and leaves everywhere
when ghoul and ghost and gobline host
dance round their queen...
It's Halloween!

(I learned the above song/poem in the 3rd grade and have been
 singing it to my extended family every since then!)

Just ask them. They will roll their eyes and nod yes, indeed!

I sing it all year for some bizarre reason I cannot understand,
it just sticks in my head!

Many are just DYING to stay here!
(Insert sinister evil laughter here.)

One of my daughters' fav Halloween kid's movies
of all time is called The Worst Witch.

It's an adorable, silly, low-budget, dorky 80s HBO special.

It conjours up the BEST memories for them and me... it's just so bad it's good.

...so much, in fact, that my eldest made herself
and husband cute costumes from it
 a couple years ago and shared it here
 back when she used to blog.

(She really did a really fabulous job on those costumes.)

~~~~~~~
There is a part in that movie that has Tim Curry saying
"Spooky, scary," except Tim Curry says it more as:
"SPOOOKAAAAY SCAAAARRRRAAAAY!"
We love that and say it anytime we think something is scary,
it's not just reserved for Halloween time around here.
Hope your Halloween is an innocently fun "fright" night!
~~And may our loving God keep you safe!~~
