Belleek vase from Ireland visit

I thought I would share a very special little vignette full of fond memories. Each thing has its own story.

This white Belleek vase is a memento purchased in Ireland. One side has the Claddagh symbol and the other side is a sailboat. I always have it out all year somewhere in the house and I almost always have it turned to the Claddagh side. My "Da" would be pleased.

It is just a gentle reminder of my heritage and my fantastic memories of travelling through Ireland with my father, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Good times!

The little book I received as a hostess gift for one of my Shamrock Afternoon Teas a few years ago.

Sometimes this vase gets moved a bit and perhaps displayed simply with a wee bit o'green, such as this old doily around St. Pat's Day! I think they play well together, don't you?

The metal teapot holds a collection of Champagne corks. Every one of the bottles was Champagne used for my/our signature "welcome glass of bubbly" for either a dinner party, luncheon or ladies tea. I could never have saved them all, but this is a smattering of them.

The wine bottle case on the left has a fun story to it. I was shopping in HG quite a few years ago and stopped in my tracks when I saw it. And it just so happens that I have been to the St. Emilion wine country in SW France - again another fun trip with my father.........and we had such a glorious time there, just the two of us.

I just had to buy it - was a moral imperative! Never mind that it just so happens to look fabulous in union with the granite and tile in the kitchen.  (Nice when that kind of magic happens!)

Linking at Faded Charm for White Wednesday!

Heading to Delightsome Life's Home & Garden Thursday!

  2. Your vase is lovely. Creating a vignette with items that have special memories attatched makes our homes so much more inviting. It's even better when they go so nicely in your room.

PS I'm still upset I'm not getting to come to your soiree. I guess 2000 miles is just too far to drive. Can hardly wait to hear about it though!

  5. Oh, Michele, how lucky you are to have been to Ireland and France. The vignette looks great. The granite looks like it could be Baltic Brown. I so happen to love that color of granite.

And before I forget to mention it, I love the Gold Finch in your header! He is my very favourite little feathered friend! I am so looking forward to their return in April! Thanks for your visit and your sweet comment. Have a lovely weekend, my friend.

  9. You have the most beautiful "goodies" there. The teapot is so different. I've never seen anything like it. The green and white doily is wonderful. The vase is exquisite. I would love to visit Ireland. My grandmother was born there. I believe we still have relatives there. It would be so much fun to try to find them. Thanks for sharing.
